General Information

Being a physiotherapist is a prominent profession that includes applying specific evaluation methods, planning treatment strategies developed by physiotherapists all around the world based on practical knowledge and skills and hence, increasing the quality of life for those who suffer movement disorders due to any injury, illness and aging, pain and dysfunction.

Prepared with modeling modern understanding of scientific developments, our training program is a four-year-period. Students can start the department after graduating from high school and scoring enough points on Undergraduate Placement Examination, section of MF-3. Training program includes a wide range of education such as motion system problems, treatment program planning and implementation based on basic sciences, clinical studies, vocational courses, research methodology, and scientific workshops and seminars.

From its inception, the department has been pioneer in developing science, and using modern scientific outputs in clinical practice in favor of public health structure. That’s why the department has always been scientifically improving in a fast and effective way. Following the principles of Hacettepe University, our contemporary department has taken its prominent role in dynamics of the development. Giving priority to human rights and to the universal power of science and art, our department, with its dynamic staff has reached the scientific level of developed countries.

Several educational, practical and research units are in collaboration with different disciplines of health field both inside the department as well as various parts of the Hacettepe University Hospital. In each of these units, specialized staff is being trained besides offering health services.

Internship studies and scientific researches are ongoing in orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, neurosurgery physical therapy, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, cerebral palsy and rehabilitation, occupational therapy, hand surgery rehabilitation, muscle diseases and rehabilitation, women's health, rheumatic diseases rehabilitation, prostheses-orthotics and biomechanics, sports medicine and rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, low vision rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation, swallowing disorders rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation and waist-neck units.

The main aim in all the units is to evaluate the problems related to musculoskeletal system of the patients in order to improve their level of independency in daily life, and increase their participation in professional and social activities. The units have been improving in terms of number of lecturers, pre-graduation internship, post-graduation research programs and supreme health services.

Besides our main post-graduate program of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation, Sports Health, Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prosthetics-Orthotics have developed into separate branches of expertise in doctorate program.

The units have been actively involved in various studies such as public health, home rehabilitation, physical therapy in schools, geriatrics & obstetrics rehabilitation and sports medicine. Physiotherapists are performing an important role in prevention, development, testing and assessment, physiotherapy approaches, implementation, research and consultancy.

For healthy people, Physical Fitness and Exercise, Waist-Neck Health, Yoga, Pilates, Geriatric Rehabilitation, Women's Health Program, Body and Relaxation Training Recognition are amongst our new programs.

Nowadays, physiotherapists are serving to maximize independent movement, hence increased health-related quality of life for those whose movements and functions are threatened by a variety of reasons.

Due to emerging technologies in the world and in our country, individuals nowadays are living an ever-increasing inactive life than ever. This sedate lifestyle as well as the needs of future leads to inevitable developments of the profession of physiotherapy.

As the Department of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation, our goals can be listed a

  3. To continue producing and sharing global knowledge,
  4. To contribute to the development of the science of Physiotherapy &
